If you're not a fan of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series, then you're a rancid bitch. I recommend buying the books immediately, reading them, re-reading them, and then drink at least one beer. Even if you don't like Stevey Steve's normal fare (i.e. horror and gore), you'll like The Dark Tower. If you don't, kill you!
Now, if you're already a fan - good job, and did you know about the comic book? King and his minion Robin Furth teamed up with Marvel Comics to create a 7 comic-long series about the Dark Tower that illustrates some of what King wrote and also gives us new back story. The first issue hit stores yesterday, and The Scientist elbowed his way through a throng of nerd-ass nerds to get a copy
Was it awesome? Did I lurve it? Would I kill a man and eat his family to get the next 6 issues now?
In a word, no.
I was actually a little disappointed by it. The dude that wrote it (some comic guy, not King), was sorta all over the place with his Dark Tower lingo, so it didn't feel very coherent to me. Plus, the first issue dealt with events from Dark Tower I, so they could've just used the text squaw from there. The artwork was good, but man the writing sucked a purple hooter.
I really enjoyed the geography lesson at the back of the comic that was written by Furth though. I hope each issue will have something like that in it.
Anywho, if you're a fan, buy the comic and watch out for the writing. If you're not a fan, buy the comic and thank me for introducing you to the greatest story ever written. If you're Jared, kill you!

I love that series so much that all the pages of all my books are stuck together.
That's what I like to hear!
I can't describe to you how pissed I was when Roland lost his fingers to that lobtrosity. Which reminds me of a story about a girl I once knew.....ewwww.
I was damn pissed when he got the dry twist (aka arthritis) too. Stephen King must hate him.
